Jianghan University(江汉大学) is a comprehensive public university with multi-discipline in Wuhan, the capital city of Hubei Province. It is co-built by the municipal and provincial governments but mainly endorsed by the former one. The university occupies approximately 349 acres and its buildings have a gross floor area of 586,000 square meters, with its main campus located by Sanjiao Lake in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.
In August 1998, the provincial & municipal government decided to merge the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Hankou Branch, Wuhan Education College, and Wuhan Workers Medical College with former Jianghan University, to construct the new site of New Jianghan University(江汉大学). In October 2001, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, a new Jianghan University was established. In November, the main campus in Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone opened. In 2005, the university successfully passed the evaluation of the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education. In March 2010, the university officially obtained the right to grant a master’s degree.
Jianghan University(江汉大学) has 21 departments that offer approximately 75 undergraduate programs and 8 master degree authorization points for first-level disciplines and 8 master degree authorization categories, covering 60 secondary disciplines. The university has 11 disciplines including economics, law, education science, literature, history, science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, management science, and arts.
